Descripción : The objective of the research is to estimate the carbon footprint, which consists in the calculation of the amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted directly and indirectly by the swine herd located in the MFL ESPAM. For the development of the work, descriptive and quantitative methods were used since the description of the activities carried out in the swine herd was carried out and in situ audit tools (observation, signing, interview) were used as means of data collection; For its part, the guidelines established by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) were used to calculate emissions. On the other hand, it is mentioned that in the pig herd during the period from June 2016 to July 2017 there were a total of 1065 animals (681 females and 420 males) with an estimated time of 170 days of life for production animals, 365 for reproduction and 70 for the offspring, in addition an average annual population of 51 females and 45 males is estimated for production, 253 females and 33 males for breeding and 119 offspring. The emissions generated in the pig herd are reduced to methane emissions by enteric fermentation and by the climatic conditions of the place and the nitrogen oxide by the compost and deep bed treatments respectively, with the highest proportion of gases belonging to those of nitrogen oxide in deep beds (1,5734x10-1 Gg CO2 eq). It should be mentioned that each pig of the pig herd generates an approximate amount of 1,0489x10-4 Gg CO2 eq. As measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the implementation of a biodigester in the area of the deep bed system or the intensive use of compost as a strategy for the management of excreta is suggested.
