Abstract
La presente investigación fue desarrollada con el objetivo de realizar un Plan de Reforestación en las Áreas de Conservación y Uso Sustentable Municipal “Río Coaque” del cantón Pedernales, provincia de Manabí. Para ello, se emplearon técnicas (entrevistas y encuestas) que facilitaron la recopilación de datos clave de la zona de estudio. En el marco del proceso, se diagnosticó la situación actual de las ACUS para establecer una línea base ambiental. Se identificaron las zonas prioritarias para la reforestación dentro de estas áreas, con el fin de llevar a cabo su restauración ecológica mediante el uso de especies forestales nativas. A partir de este diagnóstico, se diseñó un Plan de Reforestación orientado a la conservación de los ecosistemas forestales de la zona. Los resultados obtenidos revelaron que esta área enfrenta varios desafíos ambientales que requieren atención inmediata, así como medidas específicas para garantizar su sostenibilidad y la recuperación de sus bosques. A través de entrevistas, se identificaron las áreas más urgentes para reforestación, considerando factores como la degradación del suelo y la conectividad con otras áreas protegidas, lo que representa una estrategia clave para maximizar los beneficios ecológicos. Con base en estos resultados, se implementó el Plan de Reforestación, cuyo propósito fue fortalecer la restauración de las áreas degradadas de las ACUS, como consecuencia de las actividades humanas, con un enfoque centrado en la conservación y el desarrollo sostenible. Se concluye que la participación comunitaria es esencial para mejorar el compromiso en la reforestación y el manejo sostenible de los bosques.

This research was carried out with the objective of developing a Reforestation Plan in the “Río Coaque” Municipal Conservation and Sustainable Use Areas (ACUS) of Pedernales canton, Manabí province. To achieve this, techniques such as interviews and surveys were used to facilitate the collection of key data from the study area. As part of the process, the current status of the ACUS was diagnosed to establish an environmental baseline. Priority areas for reforestation were identified within these zones, in order to carry out their ecological restoration through the use of native forest species. Based on this diagnosis, a Reforestation Plan was designed, aimed at conserving the region's forest ecosystems. The results revealed that this area faces several environmental challenges that require immediate attention, as well as specific measures to ensure its sustainability and the recovery of its forests. Through interviews, the most urgent areas for reforestation were identified, considering factors such as soil degradation and connectivity with other protected areas—representing a key strategy to maximize ecological benefits. Based on these findings, the Reforestation Plan was implemented with the purpose of strengthening the restoration of degraded areas of the ACUS due to human activities, with a focus on conservation and sustainable development. It is concluded that community participation is essential to improve engagement in reforestation efforts and the sustainable management of forests.
