dc.description	The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the efficiency of an artificial wetland for the treatment of domestic wastewater at the San Juan de Manta - Manabí site. It was carried out through a diagnosis of the socio-environmental and economic characteristics and analysis of the residual water parameters for the implementation and feasibility of the project. The following results were obtained in the survey that 63% of its inhabitants consume between 200-300 L/day and that 75% of the respondents highlight that only one person works in their home, in addition, an on-site analysis of the residual water was carried out. of the site determining that in the parameters of BOD5, COD and total solids they do not comply with the discharge limits to a body of fresh water according to the TULSMA. An artificial wetland was implemented as a sustainable development alternative, reaching an organic matter removal efficiency of 91.80% for the BOD5 parameter, 79.00% for COD and 64.30% for total solids. Finally, a cost evaluation was carried out in the implementation of the wetland, as a result of this analysis, a value of $263 was determined for its execution, this being an efficient treatment alternative. It is concluded that the implementation of the artificial wetland is a viable alternative for the treatment of wastewater through natural biochemical processes which do not require external energy or chemical additives.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar la eficiencia de un humedal artificial para el tratamiento de aguas residuales domésticas en el sitio San Juan de Manta – Manabí. Se realizó un diagnóstico de las características socioambientales, económicas a la población y parámetros físicos del agua residual para la implementación y la factibilidad del proyecto. La encuesta determinó que el 63% de los habitantes consume entre 200-300 L/día y el 75% de los encuestados destacan que solo una persona trabaja en su hogar, de acuerdo al análisis in situ del agua residual, en los parámetros de DBO5 (1083 mg/L), DQO (746 mg/L) y sólidos totales (4204 mg/L) no cumplen con los límites de descarga a un cuerpo de agua dulce según el TULSMA. Se implementó un humedal artificial como una alternativa de desarrollo sostenible, alcanzando una eficiencia de remoción de materia orgánica de 91,80% para el parámetro de DBO5, 79,00% en el DQO y del 64,30 % de sólidos totales. Por último, se realizó una evaluación de costo en la implementación del humedal, como resultado de este análisis se determinó un valor de $ 263 para su ejecución. Se concluye que, la implementación del humedal artificial es una alternativa viable para el tratamiento de las aguas residuales a través de procesos bioquímicos naturales los cuales no requieren de energía externa ni de aditivos químicos.	es_ES
